Just a quick update and some photos. A few key points:
First report is here.
Since the first report we flew one round on Tuesday and another four rounds on Wednesday.
The round on Tuesday was a nightmare for the organisers. It took all day and included many breaks as conditioned dropped below the minimum. As you can imagine there was a fair spread of results...
Wednesday was similar in many ways to day one. Although there were four rounds and many thermals they seemed to favour particular guys and even countries; it's been really weird like that - different guys just seem to get blessed on different days.. This time it was the Americans and some of the Spanish guys who really benefited.
May be tomorrow it will be the turn of the Norwegians or the Brits who still haven't had a sniff of anything.
I'm really proud to be part of the GBR1 team; we've barely made a single mistake in 14 rounds and that's really hard when all around you are getting good doses of thermals and you are left feeding off scraps when it's really tempting to try and make something from the air that just isn't there to be had. The performance has been outstanding and it's amazing we've got our way to 8th given the air we've had.
Special mention has to be made of a Lucas Gaubatz. The guy is without doubt one of the most talented pilots around - who else do you see doing rolling circle DS. He's the pilot before me in the flying order and each round I get to watch him wrestle with pants air - and for me it is a real disappointment that pilots like Lucas don't get the opportunity to demonstrate the scores that they are capable of (although all present know the skill it takes to wrestle times from bad air). I hope we don't lose pilots like this - that would be really sad.
Results so far are here.
More soon(ish)
