Beautiful day, lots of sunshine, wind just above the minimum and a fair variance in lift. Slightly strange conditions in that the variance presented itself as sink more often than thermals. Only a few chaps got decent air but most got a couple of rounds of sink.
That led to fair old mix of scores. I got off quite lightly to win with five average rounds and all my bad air coming at once in the last round when I had to use thermal flap to stay in the air and carve out an 80+.
Mike Evans drove his old diesel Tragi bus into second and Tom steered his cute Caldera into third.
There were a few arrivals as cut recoveries went wrong or pilots just got too low at the slightly tricky bases. Alex's Falcon showed it's worth by surviving a fairly stout impact with just a broken nose. Less so the Acacia 3 that had slapped down, but not too hard, and managed to snap the spar just aft of the joiner box.
The Race M again looked solid - shame it hasn't got a plug in tail or it could be tempting.
The Skorpion again looked the business; this time Mick Walsh used his new one to get his first ever (I think) top 10 spot in a league event. I have a shiny new one that I haven't had the chance to touch for weeks because of work. Never mind, my first one is on its way back from an extended stay in Spain and might get its first airing on UK slopes next weekend.
Thanks to all the Whitesheet guys who worked to hard for our benefit.
