Ken Phillips was one of the founding members of the SWSA. He was a truly great natural pilot who could turn his hand to anything, F3F, pylon, PSS, scale, power. He even mastered helicopters during his treatment for cancer. Sadly Ken lost his fight and passed away in May 2005. In his memory the SWSA run a monthly F3F league so that club members can improve their skills whilst competing for the Ken Phillips Trophy.
We got the first competition of 2006 finished on the back of the Wrecker last Sunday. The air was pretty consistent for the back of the Wrecker but there was still some thermal influence. FTD was me with a 41.xx but it would probably have gone to Shane on a couple of occasions if he hadn't cut.
Some weirdness later on saw Steve's Wizard and Andrzej's Elita end up with pretty severe damage after they both had elevator problems in bizarrely similar and hard to explain circumstances - Moulder and Scully where are you...
