Ken Phillips was one of the founding members of the SWSA. He was a truly great natural pilot who could turn his hand to anything, F3F, pylon, PSS, scale, power. He even mastered helicopters during his treatment for cancer. Sadly Ken lost his fight and passed away in May 2005. In his memory the SWSA run a monthly F3F league so that club members can improve their skills whilst competing for the Ken Phillips Trophy.
Today was our second competition of the league. A few hours on the VR98 slope saw 8 competitors complete 15 rounds. Results will be posted here very soon. FTD was 36.xx by lucky old me using a Viking. More importantly some excellent practice was has, some PBs were beaten and some real progress on technique and tactics was made. And we got to select the Welsh team for the Welsh Open.
