First time I've been out flying for a month. Too much work, a quick shopping trip to New York and sorting out my new workshop have been getting in the way. But the shop is now done (photos soon) and there's a very nearly finished Vector DS about to emerge, and who knows what else..
Anyway, today was a chance to try out the new 5 degree joiner for the Skorpion. The conditions ranged from very nice to rather average and I think I'd like to try it on a few more occasions to be sure but first impressions were very good. I can't quite put my finger on why; it tracked very well before and turned just dandy, but it just felt a little better again in both those departments. Mike Young was watching and reckoned any fishtailing that may have been in evidence before was now gone. (I have to admit I didn't notice any before but I flew it into the ground last time out, so I what the hell do I know!) As a bonus I certainly think the new joiner makes the Skorpion more attractive.
Whilst you can just about plug and play the new joiner a little relief of the incidence peg holes makes getting your wings on and off a better experience. Be gentle though; opening up the holes too much would be a very bad thing.
Mike had his new, own design 60" whizzing around nicely in the darkness. It really seemed to be going well; time to bring back crunchy pylon me thinks...
A few photos are below but I wouldn't get too excited, it wasn't great snapshot weather. Thanks to Andy for capably flying the Skorpion whilst I snapped away.
